The Royals travelled round the corner to Darby Green for the second time this season as the participated in their third cup game of the season, with their previous visit having been in the league.
Following a close encounter previously, the Royals and the Strikers again played a well competed game. The Royals started well with Steven seeing a shot unfortunately come back of the post before Zack continued his excellent scoring form with a good turn, run and shot into the corner of the goal. Steven returned to the scoresheet with a low shot across goal before Kyle tipped a strong shot over the bar with a good save. Zack was unlucky not to add to his tally as the Strikers keeper pulled off a good save low down.
At the start of the second quarter, Jamie got his first goal of the season following in as a shot from Zack was pushed to the side of the goal, but Jamie was following in to control the ball and slot home from a narrow angle at the near post. He was unlucky not to get his second in the same quarter as he latched onto a through ball from Zack but his well struck shot was off target. Mac and Jamie were putting in a lot of effort from the midfield positions to support Zack in attack, and Anna in defence.
The third quarter saw Steven have a low shot across goal go wide before setting up Kyle with a good pass out from defence. Kyle controlled and turned but could not get his shot away with some great pressure from the Strikers. Royals won a free kick just outside the area and Kyle struck the ball well across goal but it flashed through everyone and just the wrong side of the post. Anna was putting in a number of good tackles from defence to keep the strikers away from Jamie in goal.
The fourth quarter saw Zack complete his hat trick with two good finishes. The first with a close range shot from a corner going in via the crossbar and the Strikers keeper before a through ball from Steven released Zack who was able to dribble in and finish from inside the area. The goal of the game was saved til last though with George getting his first goal of the season. A corner was cleared to the edge of the area and fell nicely into the path of George who struck a shot straight into the corner of the net from outside the area. George, Mac and Steven worked hard as a defensive unit to make sure the Strikers were not getting many opportunities to get shots on Anna in the Royals goal.

Sandhurst lined up for their penultimate home game of the season as they hosted Bracknell Town Lions on this blustery November morning at the Memorial Ground.
The Royals made a change to their formation with introduction of midfielders for the first time this season and the squad adapted well to the new position wiht lots of hard work and effort being put in by the whole squad. Zack opened up the scoring for the Royals, pouncing onto a rebound following Rory's shot which was well saved. Zack doubled his tally for the week with a good run down the right channel and a low shot across goal into the opposite corner. The attacking trio of Rory, Steven and Zack were combining well together, working as a unit to close the ball down and passing between themselves to create attacking chances for the team.
A reshuffle of players and positions for the second quarter saw Jamie and George swap positions with the latter lining up in midfield. Zack, Kyle and George all had good efforts kept out by the Lions defence and keeper whilst Jamie made three good saves in the half.
A quick break for a half time refreshment of oranges for the squad and they came out envigorated for the third quarter. Steven got away a good pass to Rory whose shot was blocked, before Steven had a good run down the pitch but saw his effort go just wide. George was putting in a typically tough tackling performance in the middle of the park and time and time again was breaking up Lions attacks.
The final quarter brought out some great saves from Steven and between Anna and him, they worked hard to prevent the Lions from adding to the scoreline as the team had to defend hard against some impressive Lions attacking.

Another week, another lot of rain! Sandhurst were on the road again making the short journey up to Hawley to meet up with some old Royals players and lots of players between the teams knew each other. A hand injury to George meant a late reshuffle in positions for the team, but they adapted well in tricky conditions. Played in a great spirit between the two sides, the Royals rearguard had to be at their best in the early stages as Anna made a good save and on the counter attack Rory got away a good shot.
The second quarter continued in the same vein with George getting in a great block and Jamie twice making good saves during his spell in goal. The whole team was working hard together to keep closing down the ball and when they had the opportunity, some of the forward passing to hit the Colts on the counter attack was very pleasing to watch.
A quick refresh at halftime under the team umbrella saw the team revitalised. Mac made a double save before Rory continued his recent goal scoring form, this time direct from a corner as his curled effort went past everyone and into the far corner of the net. He was unlucky not to add to his scoring tally as the Royals hit the Colts on the counter, but he saw his effort well saved.
The unusually late oranges came after the third quarter and the team, with a vitamin C boost, pressed forwards again as the Royals again continued to improve as the match wore on. Steven had two shots just off target as he looked dangerous in attack and it was a shot from him that struck the post, but found Zack intelligently following in the rebound to prod the ball into the corner.
Whilst the conditions were slightly better than last week, it was still a good mental test of character for the team playing in these conditions and again they came through with flying colours. The teamwork continues to improve amongst the players and whilst there are areas to work on, their continued progress is great to see.
Congratulations go to Jamie for his Player of the Match award and to Rory for winning the Magic Moment for his goal direct from the corner.
We look forward to returning home to the Memorial Park next week when we host Bracknell Town Lions.

Sandhurst Royals took to the field in Ascot this weekend after a weekend off in what turned out to be very testing weather conditions. Before the match, both sides lined up around the centre circle and impeccably observed a minutes silence for Remembrance Day before commencing with the pre-match handshake.
With only six players available this week due to a late absence from the team, a quick reshuffle for the line up was required and despite rain and a strong wind blowing across the pitch, the Royals started very well. Steven and Zack had shots saved and were linking up well in attack with Jamie and George protecting Kyle in goal. George was even able to go on a rampage up the pitch with a great run down the right channel but unfortunately saw his effort saved.
A quick reshuffle of positions ahead of the second quarter saw George partner Steven in defence and Rory link up with Kyle in attack. Rory saw a shot saved following a swift counter attack and Kyle similarly after being played in by Steven. The whole team was working hard together to make sure the Ascot side could not settle on the ball and were getting in a number of well timed tackles across all areas of the pitch.
The wind and rain continued into the second half and was a real test of character for the Royals who had been used to playing in fine conditions until this point. Zack continued in goal and made a great save. The Royals were still looking dangerous in attack through Rory and Steven in the third quarter and the Ascot keeper was forced into action a few times, denying Steven and Rory. Steven did manage to find a breakthrough in the third quarter as he won the ball back on the left wing and cut inside to finish across goal.
With all six Royals now soaked through, they continued in the final quarter with some great teamwork across the pitch. Steven took to the goal for the final quarter and made a good save with his feet before Kyle had a chance which was narrowly wide. Kyle was very unlucky not to get on the score sheet with two late chances, the second of which struck the outside of the post.
In what was truly testing conditions for the young Royals side, they played extremely well in the game. The partnerships in defence and attack, regardless of the player combinations, were good to watch and the covering and teamwork across the whole team was very pleasing to the teams management. It has been great to see the progress of the team throughout the season so far and to see them enjoying their football.

In another week of firsts for the Royals, they put in a battling performance despite a depleted squad with only five players out of the eight person squad available. Steven Thomas, Anna Mackie and Kyle Burton-Toombs were all unavailable, leaving Jamie King, George Timberlake, Mac Enser, Rory McDonald and Zack Fairminer to take to the pitch.
In an overcast day at the Memorial Park, it was a tight first quarter. Zack made a great save in goal and was being well protected by Rory and Mac. George and Jamie were working hard further up the pitch as the Royals counter attacked with great purpose and Jamie was unlucky not to open his scoring account for the team this season following a good run and shot.
A reshuffle in positions for the second quarter saw some excellent defending from Jamie, getting in a number of timely blocks and George making some great diving saves in goal. Mac was chasing down the ball at every opportunity to put pressure on the Hearts attackers to great effect. Zack and Rory linked up well upfront and one move saw the Royals unlucky not to get on the score sheet with Zack running forward and playing the ball into Rory but his shot was unfortunately wide.
A much needed half time break saw the Royals get some much needed respite as they were all putting in a great deal of effort on the pitch. It was an excellent defensive performance in the third quarter with George and Jamie getting in a number of good blocks and in the event where Hearts did get beyond the defenders, Rory was on hand to make some good saves, twice being called into action.
Following a quick energy boost of a jelly baby in the break, the team continued to put in an amazing amount of effort all over the pitch and were duly rewarded through getting some goals. The defensive pairing of Mac and George continued in the final quarter in front of Jamie with a front pairing of Zack and Rory combining well to great effect. Jamie was performing well in goal with a number of saves with his feet and George and Mac continued their teamwork to get in tackles and blocks on the Hearts attackers. The effort was typified in the goals which the team got on the day with Zack and Rory chasing the ball, allowing Rory to get in a tackle and put a good shot across goal into the far corner. The front pairing combined again working together to win the ball back in the attacking third and a shot from Rory came out nicely to Zack who finished tidily.
A very pleasing performance today from the Royals who continue to play in the correct spirit and battle for each ball.
POTM: George Timberlake
Magic Moment: Rory McDonald

For the first time in six weeks the Royals finally took to the road as they made the short journey to Darby Green for their opening away game of the season. It was a return to their previous club for Steven Thomas and Zack Fairminer, as they settled into familiar surroundings from the start of the match.
It was the most eventful match so far this season for the Royals with three penalties awarded between the two teams in the game, although none were scored.
In a goalless first quarter, Kyle Burton Toombs was unlucky not to open his account for the season with two great efforts well saved by the Strikers goalkeeper. Rory McDonald also went close whilst Steven Thomas made two good saves at the other end to keep the score down. Mac Enser was roaming around the pitch whilst getting in some good blocks in defence, putting in a great deal of effort with the amount of ground he covered.
The second quarter saw George Timberlake playing upfront and was hauled back when attempting to shoot whilst in the penalty area. He struck the resulting penalty well, but in unfortunately narrowly the wrong side of the post. His strike partner, Steven, went close before seeing a cross-shot deflected into the goal by an unfortunate Strikers defender.
A half time debrief to the team was followed up with another good quarter from the Royals. It was a great finish from Rory McDonald with his first goal of the season with a tidy finish across the goal and into the corner of the net. George Timberlake was on hand to make a great save as the Strikers were awarded a penalty, but the Royals third quarter goalie made himself big in the goal and was able to make the save.
The fourth quarter saw the Royals push forwards and Steven was on a personal mission to get on the scoresheet with a number of efforts with a good strike hitting the post, but couldn't add to his tally so far this season. Anna Mackie was providing a great foil for Steven as an attacking pair with some great pressure on the ball. The Royals did add to their scoreline though as some good pressure from Zack, breaking forwards from defence, saw the Strikers divert the ball into their own net.
The Royals again played the match in the right spirit throughout and continue to show great character when conceding goals.
POTM: Zack Fairminer
Magic Moment: George Timberlake for all round performance and penalty save.

The Royals good luck with fine weather for a matchday morning continued as they participated in their second cup match in two weeks with Pinewood Polecats the visitors.
The Royals started the first quarter well with Steven Thomas getting in a number of shots on the Polecats goal and was able to get on the score sheet with a well placed shot into the corner. Mac Enser also went close to adding to the Royals scoreline in a quarter where the whole team played well in defence and attack, preventing the Polecats from getting a clear sight of George Timberlake's goal.
The Polecats came back strongly in the second quarter and a number of good saves from Rory McDonald saw the Royals battle strongly to keep the Polecats at bay. Zack Fairminer looked dangerous in attack alongside Mac and found the Polecats keeper in equally good form.
Rory was exceptionally unlucky not to find himself on the score sheet for the Royals in the third quarter as the Polecats goalie made some brilliant saves to deny the forward his first goals of the season. The defensive partnership for the quarter of Jamie King and Anna Mackie were getting in some good tackles and blocks and moving the ball from defence to attack well. Zack managed to get the ball before the Polecats keeper and was able to slot into the net as the Royals added their second goal of the game.
With all the energy both sides had put in, the final quarter was lighter on chances than the previous three, but good shots from Steven and George added to a good save from Mac meant the scoreline didn't change in the final quarter.
Another encouraging performance from the Royals who continue to play in the correct spirit.
Player Of The Match: Jamie King
Magic Moment: Rory McDonald for a number of saves in the second quarter.
Congratulations to both Jamie and Rory for their efforts in this game.

Sandhurst looked to build on their encouraging start in their league campaign with their opening cup fixture of the season as they welcomed West Byfleet Scorpions to the Memorial Park.
The first quarter saw the Scorpions take command of the game but they found Zack Fairminer in good form in the Royals goal, ably assisted by George Timberlake and Rory McDonald in defence who were getting some timely blocks in to cut out the ball.
An injury to second quarter keeper Anna Mackie saw the Royals have a slight reshuffle, but also gave Zack some more goal time and again produced further saves from the Scorpions, this time with Steven Thomas and Jamie King acting as the defensive shield.
The Royals solitary goal came direct from a corner as Kyle Burton-Toombs fired in an inswinging corner right into the far top corner. A second injury for the Royals saw Steven Thomas replaced by the returning Anna Mackie, still recovering from a finger injury sustained in the previous quarter.
The fourth and final quarter saw a forward pairing of Zack and Kyle as the Royals attacking players and the two linked up to good effect with a number of chances on the Scorpions goal, but a mixture of bad luck and good goalkeeping meant the Royals couldn't add to their tally. Stand in keeper Jamie King made some good saves with his feet and distributed the ball well from goal.
Once again, despite conceding, the Royals heads did not drop and they continued to work hard. They are growing together as a team and it has been pleasing to see their progress so far and long may it continue.

Sandhurst Royals took to the field for their second league game of the season on a beautiful September morning at the memorial ground as they hosted Spencers Wood Typhoons. Following on from a very encouraging performance in their opening league game, the Royals set themselves up to counter attack their opponents and did so to great effect. Some good goalkeeping throughout from Jamie, Kyle, Mac and Anna gave Sandhurst an excellent platform to build from and second half goals from Steven Thomas, with a goal in each of the final two quarters, finished off some good team play.
The whole team continued to show an excellent work ethic on the pitch, making sure their opponents were under pressure when they had the ball with some timely blocks from the outfield players and goalkeepers alike. This was epitomised by the work rate shown by forwards Rory and Zack, working hard to track players back and break out quickly with the ball when the opportunity arose.
The games magic moment came in the third quarter as Anna took a clearance in the face but showed her resilience after taking a moment off the pitch to rejoin her team later in the quarter and contribute to a resolute defensive display with some great tackling.
